About Adam Booker Sextet CD Release
Adam Booker has been playing bass for over 20 years. In that short time he has been a member of the Jazz Pharaohs, The Asylum Street Spankers, the US Navy Band New Orleans, The Hot Club of New Orleans, The Rob Block Quintet, The Devin Phillips Quintet, and has performed with a wide variety of today’s modern jazz up and comers, including Patrick Cornelius, Maurice Brown, and Gene Black. Adam Booker has also been proud to have shared the stage with several of jazz’s great masters, including Al Grey, Frank Foster, John Fedchock, Butch Miles, Arthur Latin, and Diana Krall. Adam has also had the privilege to study with several great jazz bassists, including John Fremgen, Eric Revis and the legendary Milt Hinton.
Currently, Adam Booker is an Associate Professor of Double Bass and Jazz Studies at University of Minnesota-Duluth. He maintains a large studio of both double bass majors and minors, electric bassists, and jazz and classical students. He also teaches jazz improvisation and jazz writing, as well as jazz combos.
